The Jeep Wrangler JK Drives Off Into the Horizon

It’s time to say goodbye to an SUV that broke the mold. But never fear! There’s another quintessential Jeep right behind it; say hello to the all-new 2018 Wrangler. The groundbreaking Wrangler JK made the Jeep a staple commuter car when it debuted in 2006 and paved the way for bigger and better SUVs that you still see on the road today. This SUV has been a big deal for the past twelve years and Jeep fan club waved a fond farewell to the last JK Wrangler as it rolled off the line at Jeep’s Toledo, Ohio, plant last week. But here’s what you need to know about the upcoming 2018 Jeep Wrangler to stave off the blues. See our current inventory of remaining Jeep Wrangler JK models if you want to hold onto those good ole days and drive the iconic four-door off-roading machine.

The all-new 208 Jeep Wrangler – technically the Wrangler JL – is true to its roots, and effortlessly blends tried-and-true features with a fresh, updated design, and added more premium materials to deliver a vehicle that’s ready for the future. New lights—including available LED headlamps and taillamps—provide remarkable illumination and a striking appearance. But you’ll still get the same iconic styling, with round headlamps, a seven-slot, unmistakable grille, flat fender flares, and as a call-back to its original form from WWII, a fold-down windshield with removable top and door.

While the design still calls back to the Wrangler’s heritage, the engineering is leaning into the future to provide the most capable Wrangler ever. Period. The newly available 33-inch tires, stronger axle tubes, larger brakes, three available 4×4 systems, rugged steel skid plates, and a range of other exciting options all allow you to take your Wrangler farther off the beaten track than ever before. And you’ll love the power on demand thanks to the available 3.6-liter Pentastar® engine. It still delivers 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque but now has improved mileage—delivering 23 highway miles per gallon – making it the most fuel-efficient Wrangler ever.

Have a seat in an interior that’s almost as unforgettable as the places you’ll go. A new seat design provides comfort and maximum support, while available heated front seats, a driver seat with two-way lumbar adjustment, additional rear seat legroom, premium armrests and more, make every trip one to remember, no matter where you sit. And bring nature inside the vehicle with you thanks to two incredible top options. The updated, lightweight Freedom Top® hardtop has easily removable roof panels, and the new zipperless Sunrider® soft top includes improved fabric management and an assist mechanism to help ease the opening and closing process.

And no matter where the road (or track) takes you, you’ll have connectivity that’s better than ever. The new, fourth-generation Uconnect® systems are on an 8.4-inch pinch-to-zoom touchscreen and come with exquisite Navigation with turn-by-turn directions, Apple CarPlay® support and Android Auto™, SiriusXM® Traffic, SiriusXM Travel Link, and more.
