2022 Wagoneer vs 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe

Both of these full-size SUVs are available with a hands-free power liftgate that opens when you kick your foot below the rear bumper. They also feature power-retractable assist steps that descend to give you a boost into the cabin. You’ll also find LED headlights, roof racks with side rails, and heated side-view mirrors on each vehicle.

Now let’s slip into the driver’s seat. The new 2022 Wagoneer and 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe are available in two interior styles that offer a luxurious and classy feel. Both offer black leather trim, with the other option being sea salt gray in the Wagoneer and a mocha brown in the Tahoe. These full-size SUVs also boast sculpted dashboards and accent stitching that deliver a contemporary vibe that’s sure to please. 

Both the new 2022 Wagoneer and 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe seat up to eight people with their second and third rows of seating. These seats are available with power-folding functions that make them easy to lower for added cargo space. The new Wagoneer boasts 116.7 cubic feet of cargo space with both rows lowered, while the Tahoe hits 122.9 cubic feet. However, the new Wagoneer offers the most cargo volume in its class behind the third row. 

On both these vehicles, you’ll find tri-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroofs, and auto-dimming rearview mirrors. However, only the new Wagoneer features heated and ventilated front seats to ensure you’re always riding in comfort. The Wagoneer also has a rotary dial gear shift that opens the front cabin up and adds a contemporary vibe.

It also offers a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot that only supports seven devices and an available rear-seat entertainment system. 

On both of these vehicles, you’ll find a wireless smartphone charging pad, a head-up display, and numerous USB data ports. They also both feature a trial subscription to SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, so you can enjoy over 150 channels of commercial-free music, talk, sport, entertainment, and more. 

The new Wagoneer also features Amazon Fire TV built-in, while the new Tahoe is available with a Google built-in connection. We also see a difference in the sound systems each is available with: the new Wagoneer impresses with an available 19-speaker McIntosh® sound system that surrounds you with crystal-clear sound, while the new Tahoe offers a 10-speaker Bose® premium sound system.

Now let’s take a look at what each of these full-size SUVs are hiding below the hood. 

The new 2022 Wagoneer keeps things simple with its 5.7-lilter V-8 engine that achieves 392 horsepower and 404 pound-feet of torque. When properly equipped, the new Wagoneer can reach a best-in-class maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. This powerful engine configuration is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. 

offers the new Wagoneer with three legendary 4×4 systems to choose from, so you can be prepared to tackle anything the road sends your way. These 4×4 systems include a  Selec-Terrain traction-management system that lets you choose from five drive modes, so you can adjust ride handling based on current road conditions. It also features a quadra-lift air suspension that can provide extra ground clearance while also making it easier to attach a trailer. 

Meanwhile, the new 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe offers two V-8 engines and a turbo-diesel to choose from. Its standard 5.3-liter V-8 engine offers less power than the Wagoneer’s at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, while the available 6.2-liter V-8 engine supplies 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Even with the turbo-diesel engine, the new Tahoe fails to achieve the same towing capacity as the Wagoneer, topping out at 7,600 pounds. 

Chevy does offer the new Tahoe with an available four-corner air ride adaptive suspension that can raise and lower the vehicle for improved clearance and aerodynamics. This full-size SUV also features trailer-sway control, a mechanical limited-slip rear differential, and the StabiliTrak® electronic stability-control system.
