2020 Chrysler 300 vs. 2020 Cadillac CT6

By Justin Cupler | August 12th, 2020

There are many flavors in the luxury sedan segment, including full-size rigs like the 2020 Chrysler 300 and the 2020 Cadillac CT6. While these large, luxurious sedans have many similarities, they cater to different clientele in the Jacksonville area. Which is right for you? Find out here.

Exterior

The 2020 Chrysler 300 has always been and remains part luxury sedan and part sports sedan, and its body exudes this split personality. Up front, it boasts all the stylings of a luxury sedan with its larger grille, LED headlights, and upright nose. From its profile, though, the 300’s sporty side shows with its long hood, short trunk, flared wheel arches, and strong character lines.

Add to that the 300S’ performance goodies like 20-inch Black Noise wheels, black-finish badging, headlight bezels, and black grille with black-chrome surround, and the sporty personality really shows. And with a slew of appearance packages, the 300 has even more personalities to pick from.

The 2020 Cadillac CT6 is a full-on luxury rig, and there’s no denying that. It’s long and sleek body oozes luxury while its large wheels, smooth body panels, LED lighting, tasteful chrome, and more accent this luxurious design. While it may lack the sporty side of the 300, the CT6 announces your arrival in style and class like few others can.

The tale of the tape puts the 2020 Chrysler 300 at 198.6 inches long, 75 inches wide, and up to 59.2 inches tall. The CT6 is significantly longer at 205.8 inches long, but it is only 74 inches wide and 58 inches tall.

As for standard exterior features, the 2020 Chrysler 300 is well-equipped for its relatively low base MSRP. This list of features includes 17-inch Fine Silver-painted wheels, keyless entry, chrome badging, lower bodyside cladding, body-color door handles, acoustic windshield and front glass, a black grille with a chrome surround, halogen projector headlights with automatic on/off, LED daytime running lights, chrome headlight bezels, body-color mirrors, and power heated mirrors.

The 2020 Cadillac CT6’s standard features list is massive, as its $59,990 base price offers plenty of room for upscale standard goodies. These standard features include dual-outlet exhaust with bright tips, 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with Sterling Silver finish, body-color door handles, a bright-accent grille with galvano surround, bright bodyside moldings, bright window surround moldings, power heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, LED headlights, LED taillights, keyless open, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and body-color rocker panel moldings.

Interior

Inside, the 2020 Chrysler 300 boasts a classic design with its upright dash, simple layout, and limited dramatic styling. It does, however, boast plenty of luxury in its higher trims with its premium materials, two-tone steering wheel, open-pore wood trim, and more.

Again, the 30S shows off a sportier look with its heavier bolstering on the front seats and other styling bits. The Red S Appearance package adds even more striking details, including Radar Red Nappa leather seats, and more.

Inside the 2020 Cadillac CT6, things are luxurious from the base trim and up, but its overall design is quite simple and clean. What really stands out is its fit and finish, including he smoothly integrated touchscreen and slick electronic shifter. In its higher trims, the CT6 gets ridiculously luxurious with its premium rear infotainment system, quad-zone climate control, 34-speaker audios system, and much more.

As for standard features, the Chrysler 300 boasts a long list of goodies for its relatively low price. This list includes keyless ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, charcoal wood hydrographic interior accents, satin-chrome bezels, LED-illuminated cup holder lighting, auto-dimming rearview mirror, a rotary shift knob, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an eight-way power driver’s seat with four-way power lumbar, Uconnect 4C infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, a six-speaker AM/FM/SiriusXM®/HD Radio™ audio system, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and more.

Moving into higher trims adds lots more, including Nappa leather upholstery, a power passenger’s seat, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and more. There’s even an optional 19-speaker 900-watt harman/kardon® audio system and navigation.

The 2020 Cadillac CT6 shows off its luxury in its standard interior features. This list includes a panoramic sunroof, active noise cancellation, 14-way power front seats, 4G LTE Wi-Fi (data plan required), an 8-inch driver-information center, a Bose® premium eight-speaker audio system, the Cadillac user experience infotainment system, a 10.2-inch color touchscreen, natural voice recognition, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, Two rear charge-only USB ports (one Type-A and one Type-C), two-position driver’s seat memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather seating and steering wheel, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, SiriusXM®, a wireless charging pad, and much more.

That’s just the base model too. The higher trim levels add even more, including semi-aniline leather upholstery, full-color head-up display, a 34-speaker audio system, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, dual 10.1-inch rear screens, a rear infotainment system, and more.

Inside, the 2020 Cadillac CT6 boasts loads of legroom in the front and back at 46.4 and 40.4 inches, respectively. These measurements are 4.6 and 0.3 inches larger than the 300, respectively. The CT6’s 402 inches of front headroom also trumps the Chrysler 300 by 1.6 inches.

The 2020 Chrysler 300’s trunk offers 16.3 cubic feet of luggage space, beating the CT6 by 0.5 cubes.

Performance

Under its hood, the 2020 Chrysler 300 shows of its classic roots with V-6 and V-8 power, sans turbo. Its base 3.6-liter V-6 produces 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque (300 horsepower 264 pound-feet in the 300S trim). Optionally, buyers can toss in a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 that pumps out 363 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque.

Both engines pair with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Optionally, buyers can get all-wheel drive with the V-6 engine only. This adds up to a 6.3-second 0-60 time with the V-6 engine and 5.3 seconds with the HEMI V-8.

The 2020 Cadillac CT6 has two potent powertrains, starting with a 3.6-liter V-6 that pumps out 335 horsepower and 285 pound-feet of torque. The range-topping engine is a 4.2-liter twin-turbo V-8 that pounds out 500 horsepower and 574 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

There are no 0-60 tests with the base V-6 engine, but with the boosted V-8, the CT6 is impressive at 4.4 seconds to 60 mph.
