The 2019 Jeep Cherokee took on a new look that included more traditional-looking headlights and other fascia updates. The April 2019 updates to the 2019 Jeep Cherokee also brought in other updates that increased its safety in a crash, resulting in it being an IIHS Top Safety Pick.
The structural updates play a considerable role in the 2019 Cherokee getting the coveted Top Safety Pick rating. These updates include more high-strength steel, and updated A- and hinge-pillars, which played instrumental roles in boosting the small-overlap tests, pulling the passenger-side small-overlap test from a “Poor” rating to “Good” and the passenger-side small-overlap test from “Marginal” to “Good.”
The new headlights on the 2019 Jeep Cherokee help it qualify for the Top Safety Pick ranking with an “Acceptable” rating if you opt for the available LED projector units. Rounding out the tests is a “Superior” rating in the front-crash-prevention test with the optional Full Speed Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation.
The 2020 Jeep Cherokee will also carry on with all these updates, so buyers waiting on the 2020 Cherokee can rest assured it will also be an IIHS Top Safety Pick.
